Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate major events and outreach activities, including the OTN Symposium, workshops, community events, and engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate meetings and engagement with all levels of government in collaboration with Dalhousie's government relations team, including scheduling for senior management.
- Manage all aspects of governance committee operations, including agenda preparation, meeting coordination, member communications, and note taking and documentation.
- Provide high-level executive support to senior management, including organizing functions, preparing briefing materials, documenting meetings, and conducting follow-ups.
- Collaborate with project management staff to design and implement organizational processes and workflows that enhance coordination and effectiveness.
- Provide project coordination and reporting support across OTN teams to support organizational objectives and timely completion of deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in political science, marketing, environmental science, marine biology or related field, with a minimum of three years' related experience in event planning, public outreach, communications (or an equivalent combination of practical experience and education).
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Comfortable facilitating meetings and working with a variety of personalities and backgrounds, and able to communicate effectively in writing.
- Experience providing executive-level support to senior management.
- Demonstrated time management and prioritization abilities. Able to work well under pressure and accommodate tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience planning and organizing events for a variety of audiences and formats.
- Highly comfortable using a wide variety of digital platforms, including project management and collaborative work platforms (e.g., Asana, Slack, Office365).
- Experience working in an academic or grant-based environment.
