- Schedules mine activities from a daily basis to a rolling 3-month plan and monitors their execution.
- Lead performance by setting expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and providing feedback to operation teams.
- Provide technical leadership and operational expertise to the engineering and operations team.
- Organize and lead weekly planning meetings, with key personnel to coordinate activities in order to meet production goals.
- Provide clear work objectives, expectations, and performance levels to the UG team to achieve production goals. Ensuring personnel, equipment, and technical expertise are being used efficiently to meet the Mine objectives.
- Complete and review mine design, increase production, plan activities and key mining metrics to improve value to the operation.
- Ensure designs and applications align with engineering standards, safety, environmental regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Provide direction to technologists/technicians/EITs in terms of work requirements and priorities and will formally fill a leadership role in these areas.
- Support activities between multi engineering fields and other departments to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Mine Technologist or B.Sc. in Mine Engineering.
- Affiliation (or eligibility to register) with a Professional Engineering Organization.
- Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
- 3-5 years of validated experience in an underground mine engineering role.
- Strong background in long-hole mining methods is crucial.
- Experience with ground control, mine ventilation systems and underground water management, and paste fill would be considered an asset.
- Strong digital literacy is essential, including the ability to use and create excel spreadsheets and work with scheduling programs. Excellent skills are required in the use of Computer Aided Design programs such as; AutoCAD, Deswik, VentSim, A-Mine
- Strong leadership, initiative, autonomy and ability to prioritize engineering work and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of engineering techniques, design and project management skills as they apply to ore body evaluation and mining operations.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, provide sound engineering problem-solving techniques to resolve potential issues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication between technical and non-technical groups. Relate to both operations and engineering teams, fostering a team focussed approach.
- Ability to coach EIT, technical specialists and mentor and develop technical staff career progression.
- Ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate with mine operating staff to complete mine plans, budgets, and construction projects.
- The individual should have a high level of energy, self motivation, and strong organizational skills.
