Indigenization Nursing Graduate Research AssistantProject: Supporting Indigenization Initiatives in Nursing EducationDr. Shehnaz Alidina is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant to support the College of Nursing's Indigenization efforts aimed at enhancing Indigenous student success, faculty readiness, and curriculum integration. This role will contribute to foundational research and planning activities such as mapping current Indigenization-related initiatives, supporting faculty dialogues, and assisting with early-stage planning.Key Responsibilities:
  • Map existing Indigenization activities within the College, including courses, partnerships, research initiatives, and student supports
  • Support the launch of the GEF Indigenous stream by drafting funding call materials (purpose, eligibility, allowable costs, key dates), and preparing applicant supports (FAQs, templates)
  • Contribute to the development of a mentorship framework by scanning practices at peer institutions and assisting with student consultations (e.g., helping organize focus groups, note-taking, synthesizing feedback)
  • Support planning and documentation of faculty roundtables with Indigenous speakers, as needed
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to advance the College's Indigenization goals
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong research, synthesis, and writing skills
  • Familiarity or keen interest in Indigenous health, education, or reconciliation initiatives
  • Respectful and culturally sensitive approach to working with Indigenous knowledge and communities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and basic data organization tools
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to advancing Indigenization in nursing education and to gain experience in culturally grounded academic research and program development.Required Number of Hours: Approximately 7 hours per week.
