
Global Learning Program Assistant

- Interacts with International House residents and performs hosting/greeting responsibilities including being highly visible during events to offer help where required.
- Provides event support for all aspects of the Global Learning program at I-House and additional projects as required. This may include event logistics, facilitation, catering support, promotions, liaising with guest presenters and community partners, set up/tear down of event equipment, troubleshooting audio-visual equipment and unlocking/locking facilities, ensuring that all event arrangements have been completed prior to the event, etc.
- Provides event support to other programs such as International Week and the Visiting Lectureship in Human Rights as required.
- Supports communications efforts in I-House such as newsletters, social media management, murals, posters, door signs, calendars, newsletters, and email correspondence.
- Completes administrative duties as required for the program support and tracking.
- Aids in program design as needed.
- Performs other related duties as necessary, including involvement in special projects.
- Work will be in-person on or around North Campus, though some programming will require off-campus settings.
- Must be a continuing full-time student at the University of Alberta.
- Ideal candidate will have lived at International House for one year or more and been an active resident in the community.
- Preference will be given to candidates expecting to live in I-House this year.
- Exceptional intercultural communication and relationship building skills, experience with inclusive community building.
- Competence in consensus decision making.
- Understanding of the facilitation model of event planning at International House.
- Multicultural hospitality and event coordinating experience.
- Attention to detail and excellent prioritization and organizational skills, time-management and multi-tasking skills.
- Solid command of the English language, both verbal and written.
- Welcoming, congenial attitude, high standards of professionalism & hospitality, skilled in community animation.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to global learning.
