- Execute strategies to ensure adequate planning is done to optimize capacity, service, and cost within the Terminal/ Sort Facility
- Manage the execution of projects in accordance with the operational plans with on-going cost management, budget control, and performance management per region
- Manage administration and operating standards including budget planning, analyzing reports, meeting and exceeding productivity standards.
- Develop and maintain forecasts and budgets and take full responsibility for overall operating expense budget.
- Work with other functions to maximize the benefits and utilization of resources, equipment, personnel, training, and customer strategies.
- Continuously evaluate the business structure and staffing levels to ensure the business resources reflect current market conditions and demand for services.
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean principles in safety, reliability, cost, quality and productivity within the Terminal/Sort Facility
- Provide direction, leadership, and coaching to teams
- Track the operating metrics and financial performance of services within the Terminal/ Sort Facility on a weekly and monthly basis
- Identify business challenges and performance metric shortfalls and work with other managers and partners in ensuring appropriate action plans are developed, monitored and implemented.
- Enforce appropriate controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risks
- Consolidate, review and analyze service and inventory information from within the Terminal/ Sort Facility and assess our compliance in terms of handling volume profitably.
- Manage escalations for issues unresolved through client interaction with program supervisors, managers, and directors
- Be an active participant and influencer in the Health and Safety committee and review compliance reporting, including Federal CLC Part II
- Review all injury and accident investigations and necessary follow-ups to ensure appropriate corrective measures are identified and implemented
- Promote an interdependent safety culture and adherence to safety policies within the Terminal/ Sort Facility, ensuring high quality and low risk
- Apply collective bargaining agreement and labour relations understanding in all operational and employee related decision making
- Influence Terminal/ Sort facility labour relations discussions by providing management with the necessary information
- Manage the partner and vendor relations to support the Terminal/ Sort Facility needs and objectives
- Maintain ISO 9001 procedures and quality standards
- Participate and respond to quality and safety audits
- Establish, implement and control effective and efficient operating policies and procedures
- Partner with internal departments namely HR, H&S, LR, Finance, Sales, Retail, Payroll, and Engineering to ensure compliance, build capability and facilitate the customer experienceIdentify and prioritize logistics needs and communicate recommendations to leadership in order to achieve efficient national logistical operations from the Terminal/ Sort Facility
- Evaluate employee performance against established objectives and standards
- Execute key activities in the employee lifecycle to direct reports (including employee recruitment, promotion and termination activities etc.)
- Monitor performance, engagement and enablement within teamsPartner with maintenance teams to ensure collaboration and alignment on MHE objectives and performance
- 7-10 years operational experience in the industry
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing large teams with multiple levels of reporting including unionized and non-unionized teams
- Experience in a warehouse-type environment/sortation facility
- Demonstrated safety leadership
- Experience communicating with all levels of businessExperience in Lean (Lean Six Sigma) process and methodology. (Green or Black belt certification an asset)
