
Journeyperson Refrigeration Mechanic

- Performs journeyperson level work in installation, repairs, and preventative maintenance of all refrigeration equipment, air conditioners, heat pumps, etc.
- Take an active role in the Preventative Maintenance Program as established by the Physical Facilities Department in addition to the regular duties as a Refrigeration Mechanic.
- Assist in minor repairs, adjustments of controls, chemical treatment, or other duties as assigned.
- Coordinate the inspections and reporting of all requirements under the Federal Halocarbon Regulations.
- May direct and train one or more apprentices.
- Possess a Journeyperson Refrigeration Mechanic Certificate; an Interprovincial Certificate is an asset.
- Thorough Journeyperson level knowledge and skill in refrigeration; working knowledge and skills in additional electrical functional areas.
- Knowledge of proper use and maintenance of all hand and power tools related to job functions.
- Strong demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical materials.
- Knowledge of building codes, rules and regulations.
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to follow through and carry out assignments
- This position requires a valid Alberta driver's license.
- The nature of the work will require maneuvering through limited access spaces and occasionally working outdoors.
- In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, salaried support staff position, subject to a 6-month probation period.
- The annual salary for this position is $78,000, based on working 37.5 hours per week.

- An altered work schedule to allow for an additional day off every 2 weeks will be considered after completing the probation period.
