Join our team and help us keep communities connected.In this position as a Lead OSIM Bridge Inspector, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and technologists on multiple projects for a range of public and private sector clients. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.The role of a Lead OSIM Bridge Inspector is to perform a variety of selected tasks and assignments to continue to develop knowledge and skills within the structural discipline. Assignments will require good technical understanding of the basics. Work performed will be under the direct supervision of a Senior Structural Technician or Engineer.A Lead OSIM Bridge Inspector will perform a variety of tasks which may include preparing drawings and assisting with the plans and designs of structures and facilities such as bridges, railroads, roads, airports, harbors, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, tunnels, power plants and other projects.Your Key ResponsibilitiesLead and conduct the inspection of existing bridges, culverts, and other transportation structures per the Ontario Structure Inspection Manual (OSIM), Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and other applicable standardsComplete daily Health and Safety documentationAvailable to work flexible hours, days, nights, and weekends. Staff will be required to be away from home for periodsComplete Structure deterioration mappingProvide recommendations on bridge, culvert and retaining walls, required maintenance, repair and rehabilitationDaily Records – Keeping a daily journal or diary for reference and payment purposesInput data captured in the field into a database on-siteUse of various hand toolsCare of rental vehicleAttend and participate in team progress meetingsUtilize AutoCAD and Civil3D to prepare structural drawings when requiredFamiliar with Bridge Management software and inputting inspection dataWork within assigned projects and schedulesWorking understanding of CAD StandardsTakes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the teamProficient in Microsoft (MS) Office SuiteWorking knowledge of software programs including AutoCAD Civil3D and/or MicroStation, GIS, and Adobe AcrobatWorking knowledge of basic calculationsEffective written and verbal communication skillsAble to work under and meet tight deadlinesAbility to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovationEager to learn with strong listening and critical thinking and problem-solving skillsAttended the MTO 2024 Inspectors workshopValid Ontario driver’s licenseAbility to perform outdoor physical duties while doing bridge inspection workAbility to work independently and in a team environmentPositive attitude, excellent communication, and interpersonal skillsExcellent organization and time management skillsStrong organizational and record-keeping skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationAble to work in a team environment and excel in bridge inspection projectsIntermediate knowledge of AutoCAD.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and ExcelEducation and ExperiencePost-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Technology / Technician engineering with strong interest and experience in Bridge Engineering – Biennial InspectionsOACETT designation or eligibleP.Eng. would be an asset4+ years of experience leading Biennial inspectionsTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.   • Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$61,900.00 - $86,700.00 Annually
