Steps away from the main public transit stationWhat we offer:Highly competitive compensation package which includes, base salary, bonus, benefits, and career advancement opportunities!*Eligibility for benefits is dependent on the terms of employmentThe OpportunityFirst National is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of FP&A to lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and performance management. This role will work directly with the CFO and other members of the senior leadership team to provide key financial insights to the executive team and Board to support decision making that will drive company’s financial performance.How you will contribute:Enterprise Financial Planning & Performance Management
  • Lead annual and multi-year enterprise-wide budgeting and forecasting process
  • Lead development and management of financial and operating reports for internal and external stakeholders (e.g., monthly operating updates, quarterly financial updates, board presentations, lender materials, etc.)
  • Work with stakeholders across the organization to define, measure, analyze, and improve financial and cross-functional KPIs
  • Analyze and present on financial performance and detailed variance analyses, and make recommendations to key stakeholders
  • Advise on the financial implications of contemplated strategic and operational decisions
  • Prepare any other relevant ad hoc analysis, as needed
Team & Process Development
  • Build and develop high-performing FP&A team
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize finance and FP&A systems, processes, and tools to enhance the team’s capabilities
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across First National, including the Data & Analytics team, to implement data best practices for the FP&A team
The experience you need:
  • Recognized accounting designation (e.g., CPA)
  • 8-10 years of progressive finance experience, including senior FP&A leadership
  • Strong financial modelling, forecasting, and business analytics expertise
  • Experience selecting, implementing, or optimizing finance and/or FP&A systems is an asset
  • Experience in the financial services, mortgages, and/or securitization industries (under IFRS) is an asset
  • Proactive and performance-oriented, with hands-on, “roll up your sleeves” attitude
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to take a step back and assess the big picture
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey financial concepts simply
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
  • Highly effective in motivating teams, and developing and managing cross-functional relationships across the organization
Working Environment and Physical Demands Analysis:
  • Office environment
  • Periods of high volume with tight timelines
  • Long periods of stationary position/sitting
  • Prolonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)
  • Long periods of time in viewing a computer screen
  • Multi-tasking may include speaking to customers on a telephone call while looking up information on a computer program.
