Closing Date: April 21, 2026Position SummaryThe Research Financial Services (RFS) department provides post-award financial management of federal, provincial, international, and private contracts and grants related to research for five different Research Institutes at the University Health Network.As an integral member of the Grants Management team within the RFS department, the Financial Analyst II performs a wide range of professional accounting activities requiring experienced, professional knowledge, and application of accounting theory and principles. The individual performs detailed and complex accounting and advisory functions requiring sound professional judgment to ensure day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with the established accounting principles, institutional / funding agencies' policies, and objectives.Duties
- Timely processing of invoicing in accordance with accounting standards
- Ensure appropriate approval for invoices and payments, and maintain an audit trail for all payables
- Leverage the budget to identify discrepancies in invoice coding and work with internal departments to ensure accurate coding
- Assess when accruals are required, and then create, track, and reconcile accruals against invoicing
- Ensure timely payment of vendors within the agreed-upon payment terms
- Clear and timely communication with vendors, ensuring escalation to the manager and program leads when necessary
- Maintaining a detailed reconciliation of all invoices against the budget/forecast by expense line item and category.
- Working with one of our portfolios leads closely to ensure costs are allocated correctly by line item in support of internal and regulatory reporting.
- Ensuring proper vendor coding within our accounting system (T4A vendors)
- Leverage automation tools and techniques to streamline payable processes
- University Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
- Three - Five years (3-5) related experience in an accounting environment with exposure to a range of accounting principles, practices and procedures
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent client service and satisfaction
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with strong organization and time management skills
- Skill in accurately performing detailed numerical computations in a timely manner using large amounts of financial and/or statistical data
- Sound professional judgment, initiative, and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
- Strong knowledge of computer application accounting systems & software applications, preferably in a Microsoft Office environment (i.e., Excel, Word, Access)
