- Minimum 5–8 years of progressive engineering leadership experience, preferably in hospitality or a similar environment
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- A 4th Class Power Engineering Certification is required.
- Proven experience managing capital projects and budgets
- Experience working within a unionized environment is an asset. This property has both union and non-union employees
- Strong understanding of WorkSafeBC regulations and building compliance requirements
- Ability to work full-time onsite is required. This is an in-person position that requires a flexible schedule. The primary schedule for the role will be Monday - Friday, but flexibility is required to work evenings and weekends when business needs require.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of all engineering and maintenance functions across the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and marina infrastructure
- Ensure the effective execution of a preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend asset life
- Maintain all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire life safety, and building automation systems
- Respond to and resolve maintenance issues impacting guest experience with urgency and professionalism
- Develop and manage the hotel’s annual CapEx plan and long-term asset strategy
- Lead major repair, renovation, and replacement projects from planning through execution
- Monitor asset condition and lifecycle, ensuring alignment with brand standards and ownership expectations
- Control departmental budgets, expenses, and procurement processes
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable: WorkSafeBC regulations, Fire and Life safety codes, Environmental and Municipal requirements
- Lead emergency preparedness and response planning
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, certifications, and compliance documentation
- Champion a strong safety culture across all departments
- Establish and manage relationships with external contractors, service providers, and regulatory bodies
- Negotiate contracts and oversee service delivery to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and compliance
- Collaborate cross-functionally with all hotel departments to support operational excellence
- Identify and implement initiatives to improve: Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation and Waste reduction
- Monitor utility usage and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality
