Work Location: RemoteLanguage of Work: EnglishJob Summary:The Cost Accountant will be responsible for developing, implementing and/or maintaining a standard cost accounting system. They will prepare journal entries; maintain and reconcile ledger accounts, collect data, allocate costs and prepare reports on labor, equipment, depreciation, assembly or other operating expenses, ensuring that established procedures are followed. They will also be responsible for preparing financial statements and variance reports as requested.Job Responsibilities:Accounting and Financial ReportingReview standard material, labor, subcon fees and overhead costsPrepare journal entries and reconcile inventories to balance sheetAnalyze gross margin, other cost of sales, inventory trends and turnover ratios, and production yield dataPrepare audit schedules and footnote disclosuresSupport business unit and manufacturing groups with cost, mfg and inventory analysisAssist in complying with Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and internal control requirementsInventory Accounting and ControlWork with Manufacturing to plan and conduct physical inventoriesReconcile physical inventories to SAP systems for applicable locationsValidate vendor reconciliations performed by our logistics group and follow-up as requiredUnderstand and monitor inventory movements and the impact on the P&LReporting and AnalysisValidate GAAP and non-GAAP P&L results by performing detailed analysis of ‘cost of sales’Support Product/Customer margin analysis by reviewing, correcting and reconciling SAP transactions that drive detailed corporate and business unit P&L reporting. Reconciliation involves detailed analysis of business activity by P&L account, profit center and company codeSupport the analysis of variances incurred during production and purchasing activities by reviewing production order variances and PPVBusiness ProcessEnsure timely completion of month-end process for settlement of production orders and/or the review of production orders prior to settlementSupport the maintenance material cost updates, activity and overhead rate updatesSupport the process of updating standard costs for new parts and the annual cost rollQualificationsB.S. degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Finance, or related field6+ years professional cost accounting experience in manufacturing environment (experience in semiconductor industry or similar electronics manufacturing environment preferred)Strong understanding of the manufacturing process from raw to finished goods and cost of salesExperience in large ERP systems (SAP environment preferred)Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)Career Growth PhilosophyAt Semtech, we seek innovation and leadership from each and every member of our team.
