- Provide day-to-day mechanical engineering support to plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Monitor and evaluate equipment performance, condition data, and failure trends to identify reliability improvement opportunities.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues related to rotating equipment (pumps, motors, conveyors), piping systems, and fixed plant assets .
- Lead or support root cause failure analyses (RCFA) and implement corrective and preventive actions .
- Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to improve equipment uptime, maintainability, and lifecycle performance .
- Support and drive reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, and design packages for mechanical upgrades, repairs, and plant modifications.
- Provide technical oversight and coordination for maintenance activities, shutdowns, and small capital projects.
- Participate in change management processes (MOC), ensuring mechanical design integrity and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams on equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.
- Contribute to asset management strategies, including inspection plans and preventative maintenance programs.
- Support hazard identification (HAZOP/JHA) and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in all mechanical designs and field work.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to operations and maintenance personnel on mechanical best practices.
- Actively contribute to site safety programs and foster a strong safety-first culture.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience working in an industrial setting.
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering may also be considered with suitable industrial and project experience.
- Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan (APEGS).
- Preference given to those with experience working at an industrial facility.
- Previous experience working within MOC programs would be considered an asset.
- Experience with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of SAP is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of codes, standards and best engineering practices as applied to mining and milling applications is considered an asset.
