- Three (3) year College Diploma in Facility Management, Recreation and/or Sports Administration Management, Business Administration or Management.
- A Refrigeration Operator Class B or Air Conditioning Mechanic License – Level “B” or higher, or eligibility to obtain (must have completed the educational requirements and be working towards completion of the experience requirements)
- Professional certificate/designation in one of more of the following facility management certifications/designations would be considered an asset:
- The Certified Recreation Facilities Professional (CRFP) designation from The Ontario Recreation Facilities Association; or,
- The Certified Facility Manager (CFM) designation from The International Facility Management Association; or,
- Similar/equivalent credentials including specialty courses in Pool and Arena operation/maintenance and HVAC/Refrigeration systems.

- Three years of demonstrated progressive experience in facilities maintenance and operation with demonstrated progressive increase in responsibilities, preferably in a municipal environment and preferably including supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated ability to: effectively and efficiently maximize the use of human resources; build and sustain effective, high-caliber teams in a unionized environment; meet community and departmental needs; liaise effectively with members of the public, elected officials, community groups, and outside agencies; effectively manage change, including success in achieving planned outcomes – on time, and on budget.
- Ability to think and act strategically and effectively in a political and community service environment, to build strong and enthusiastic staff teams and to align assigned section with branch, departmental and corporate goals, and to champion the mission and values of the City.
- Demonstrated experience with contract management in the areas of: events; sports organizations and teams; community partnerships; lease agreements; facility-related contractors and service providers.
- Knowledge and experience with general budget control procedures, including preparation and management of a budget, and expenditure control, and related purchasing process.
- Strong customer focus with exceptional interpersonal skills including: collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, and communication. Strong project/time management, organizational, analytical, communication, presentation, report-writing, prioritization, problem-solving, and staff leadership and supervisory skills.
- Thorough working knowledge of :
- The Public Health Act/Pool Regulations, the Ontario Health & Safety Act, the Employment Standards Act, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, the Occupiers Liability Act, and other applicable safety-related legislation, regulations and guidelines;
- Ontario Building Code, National Fire Protection Act, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Technical Standards and Safety Act, and other applicable facilities related legislation, regulations and guidelines;
- Standards, principles, and best-practices related to contemporary management and leadership, facility maintenance, energy management and efficiency, accessibility, purchasing processes, tender preparation, labour relations and collective agreement administration.
- Intermediate level computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) as well as familiarity with and a willingness to learn: project management software, financial tracking software, registration systems such as CLASS, document publishing software.
- As required, availability to attend evening/weekend meetings or events and respond to after-hours inquiries and emergencies.

- Yearly Salary: $99,842.50 to 133,788.10
- Hourly Pay Rate: $48.00 to $64.32
