Closing Date: September 6, 2025The Occupational Therapist is an integral member of the outpatient rehab pain service, allied health and clinical program. Through the provision of individual and group-based patient and non-patient care activities, the OT effectively enhances the quality of life of patients by:
- Helping patients prevent, alleviate, or minimize dysfunction to facilitate their successful engagement in meaningful activities at home, in the community and workplace.
- Providing comprehensive assessment, treatment and consultation services primarily for patients with chronic pain.
- Communicate effectively with members of the inter-professional team to provide patient focused care.
- Provide education to patients and their families
- Provides training and supervision for Occupational Therapy students.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees and quality initiatives in the Department and relevant Programs/Services.
- Complies with and commits to patient safety and hospital policies.
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (B.Sc. (OT)) or equivalent
- Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Member of Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and/or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) is preferred
- MOCA certification is preferred
- The ability to exercise sound clinical judgement and to function in an independent, self directed manner is required
- Previous experience working as an OT in a physical medicine and rehabilitation setting is required.
- Previous experience working with chronic pain patients is preferred
- Previous experience with Mindfulness and Motivation interviewing would be considered an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrates strong and effective written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills
- Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
