Reporting to the Environmental and Sustainability Superintendent, you will be part of the Environment Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.Lead and supervise the site environmental team including coaching and developing staff and ensuring compliance to the site environmental monitoring programOversee Environmental Monitoring Program and supervise day to day operations of the departmentPlay a key role in development, maintenance and implementation of the Environmental Management SystemTrack consumables and field equipment supplies and inventoryMaintain compliance with all regulatory, permits, monitoring and reporting requirementsMonitor the impact of the operation on the natural environment, identify areas of risk and propose adaptive management strategies to mitigate impactsPromote site awareness of environmental requirements and conditions for operations and provide support and advice to department heads on inclusion of environmental consideration in work plansUndertake regular site audits to ensure compliance with policies and proceduresEnsure incident response measures are in place, lead investigations and prepare reportsQualificationsUniversity degree in an Environmental Engineering, science or environmental discipline5-8 years progressive experience in an environmental role within a mining operation1-3 years in a supervisory role with demonstrated success mentoring a team of professionalsExtensive knowledge of Canadian and Ontario legislation relevant to the mining industryPractical experience with acid rock drainage and metal leaching assessment and monitoringKnowledge of environmental management systemsExperience with SAP is considered an assetKnowledge of environmental management systemsKnowledge of the Ontario health, safety and environment acts and any legislation directly related to the mining industryExcellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPointYour Work Schedule:Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake MineAccommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee.
