- Graduate of a recognized school of medicine
- Three years family practice experience preferred
- Interest and experience in community-based medicine
- Agonist Therapy (OAT) prescribing capacity required or must be willing to obtain an OAT license at the earliest opportunity.
- Currently registered or eligible to be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, CCFP, or able to be registered
- Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (additional language skills would be an asset)
- Pro-choice
- Able to communicate appropriately cross-culturally
- Provide primary health care in a community setting,
- May provide specialized services in refugee health, Gender Affirming Care, MWMS, latent TB, Hepatitis C, HIV and OAT
- Opportunity to provide hospital inpatient care in partnership with physician colleagues, depending on skills and interest.
- Opportunity to participate in antenatal /- intrapartum care depending on skills and interest
- May provide home visits in the geographic community with Community Health Nurse
- Collaborate with Primary Health Care Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and all Klinic staff
- Participate in case conferences;
- Provide in-service education as requested;
- Documents accurate and pertinent client information in a timely manner, including maintenance of medical bands
- Knowledge of emergency procedures;
- Communicates effectively with all health team members to ensure client health needs are met
- Participates in after-hours and weekend on call services as part of Klinic's Physician call schedule
- Designed weekend call may be part of clinical responsibilities;
- Participate in the supervision and evaluation of students in the Health Services
- Establish, review and update clinical protocols
- Attend staff meetings;
- Assist in the development of health information resources;
- Assist in program development;
- Record daily statistics as required;
- Assist with orientation, training and supervision of new staff and students;
- Participate in training courses and in services offered elsewhere and by Klinic in order to maintain and improve quality of service;
- May be required to perform other duties and functions related to this job description but not exceeding above stated skills and capabilities
- Work environment consisting of an office building
- Moving between different workspaces during shifts
- May be required to move items weighing up to 12 kg
- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients and visitors
- May be required to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends
