The position may be based in Halifax, Fredericton, St. John’s, or other regional offices, with flexibility depending on candidate location.We are seeking an Engineer / Hydrologist to support our Mine Water practice in Atlantic Canada, with a focus on surface water and integrated mine water management. This role is ideal for a developing practitioner who is looking to deepen their technical expertise, contribute to meaningful mining projects, and grow within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.You will work closely with senior technical leaders and project managers to support project delivery while building your capabilities in mine water management across all phases of mining projects.The successful candidate will contribute to mine water management services across all phases of mining projects—from environmental assessment and permitting to operations, closure, and long-term monitoring—while developing and exploring technical curiosity and depth, and professional experience.Your Key ResponsibilitiesSupport technical analyses related to mine water management for mining projects across Atlantic CanadaAssist in the development and updating of water balance models under guidance from senior staffConduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support design and permittingContribute to the design and evaluation of water management infrastructure such as diversion channels, ponds, and drainage systemsSupport preparation of technical reports, figures, and regulatory submissionsAssist in the design, implementation, and interpretation of water monitoring programsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate water resources into broader mine design and environmental assessmentsParticipate in field programs as required, including hydrometric data collection and site inspectionsFollow internal quality assurance processes and support high-quality project delivery.Maintain awareness of applicable regulations, guidelines, and evolving best practices.Promote a strong health and safety culture, particularly during fieldwork.Your Capabilities and CredentialsWorking knowledge of surface water hydrology and hydraulic principlesFamiliarity with mine water management concepts, including water balances, contact water systems, and basic treatment approachesExperience or exposure to environmental permitting and regulatory processes in Atlantic Canada is considered an assetExperience supporting water quality and quantity monitoring programs and data analysisFamiliarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GoldSim, or similar), with the ability to apply them under guidanceUnderstanding of erosion and sediment control and drainage design principleStrong attention to detail and ability to perform quality checks on technical workAbility to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to collaborative problem-solvingStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and well-structured technical documentationYour Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or related discipline) or Environmental Sciences (Hydrology or related field). A Master’s degree is considered an assetRegistered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) / Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in an Atlantic Canadian provinceTypically 4–8 years of relevant experience in water resources, with exposure to mining, infrastructure, or environmental projects considered an assetExperience supporting technical components of environmental assessments, design studies, or monitoring programs is preferred but not requiredThe Work EnvironmentThis position is primarily office-based with opportunities to participate in field programs and site visits across Atlantic Canada. Occasional travel to mine sites may be required. There may also be opportunities to support projects in other regions of Canada.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
