- Extensive experience with automated tuning machinery (ideally Wintersteiger systems).
- Year-Round Mechanical Proficiency: Proven experience in bicycle mechanics—specifically high-performance mountain bike systems (suspension service, hydraulic brakes, and advanced drivetrains)—is preferred. The successful candidate will lead the technical transition and oversight between winter ski/snowboard operations and summer bike park rental and repair services.
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record of managing and mentoring a technical team in a high-volume environment.
- Safety & Risk Management: Deep understanding of ASTM/ISO standards for binding settings and the ability to manage complex liability documentation.
- Project Management: Highly organized with experience in seasonal procurement and workshop workflow optimization.
- Collaborative Mindset: Willingness to work within a hybrid staffing model, supporting Rental operations during peak periods to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Multi-Season Fleet Maintenance: Oversee the preventative maintenance schedules for both the winter rental fleet (skis/boards) and the summer bike park fleet. Ensure all equipment—from the Wintersteiger Jupiter tuned skis to high-spec downhill bikes—is maintained to factory standards for maximum safety and performance.
- Safety Compliance: Act as the resort’s lead on binding calibration and safety audits; manage the technical investigation and reporting process for equipment-related incidents.
- Software & Data Proficiency: Highly proficient in RTP|One (or equivalent resort POS/Inventory systems) for tracking equipment lifecycle and guest transactions. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required, including the ability to manage large datasets, utilize pivot tables, and perform data cleaning to support departmental reporting and Power BI integration.
- Quality Control: Implement and audit strict quality control protocols for all guest repairs and fleet work to minimize "re-work" and maximize guest safety.
- Workshop Innovation: Continuously evaluate shop workflows and machinery performance to reduce cycle times and improve technical output.
- Inventory Management: Source, order, and manage an extensive inventory of repair parts, shop supplies, and technical tools within established budgets.
- Vendor Relations: Maintain professional relationships with equipment partners (e.g., Wintersteiger) regarding warranty claims and technical support.
- Facility Oversight: Ensure the Repair Shop is a clean, organized, and safe working environment that reflects Big White’s professional standards.
- Hiring & Training: Recruit, onboard, and provide technical "master-class" training for a team of 8–10 repair technicians.
- Mentorship: Foster a culture of technical growth, mentoring staff on complex repairs and advanced tuning techniques.
- Scheduling: Manage staff scheduling
- Cross-Departmental Support: Work closely with the Rental Operations Manager to ensure technicians are integrated effectively into the rental floor.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods in a workshop environment.
- Capable of lifting and carrying heavy equipment (skis, snowboards, machinery parts).
- Must be able to perform repetitive manual tasks with high precision (mounting, hand-tuning).
