
Utility Distribution Engineer

- Develop, review, and approve detailed design deliverables for Utility Distribution systems including construction drawings for overhead and underground primary and secondary installations according to ON Reg 22/04 and Client standards.
- Perform site visits to validate scope requirements and determine existing assets condition and prepare site survey reports.
- Prepare/review technical calculations, drawings, bill of material and other deliverables and provide as required technical input for reports, specs, proposals, schedules, and costs.
- Communicate with 3rd parties, permitting jurisdictions and Clients to align delivery requirements with scope expectations.
- Prepare calculations, drawings, construction and work packages and other project base deliverables.
- Review and certify Joint Use applications and approve HMRs on behalf of utilities.
- Perform and assist with additional duties and tasks based on in project requirements.
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in developing designs for overhead pole lines, underground duct bank installations and conduit systems and residential subdivision systems renewals
- Working knowledge of overhead and underground distribution construction standards, CSA standards C22-3 no 1-20, C22.3 no 7-2 and ON Reg 22/04. Strong knowledge of THESL and Alectra Distribution Standards will be considered as an advantage.
- Working knowledge in applicable design software’s (e.g., AutoCAD, Microstation, SPIDACalc, Pull Planner etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively. Ability to create effective working relationships with fellow employees, clients' representatives, government agencies and the public.
- Capability to work independently and in a team; and flexibility to respond to short notice assignments and respond to project-based Client demands.
- Valid Ontario G driving licence
