Backed by a team of dedicated professionals and a commitment to continuous improvement, Dyno Nobel sets the standard for reliable and responsible blasting manufacturing and services worldwide.What You’ll Do***this position requires travel in Eastern Canada***As the Health and Safety Advisor, you will manage, plan, coordinate, and direct H&S activities at manufacturing, transport, distribution, and field service sites to reduce risk of employee injury, community impact, and property loss. You will provide point of contact interface and services to the Regional Business Unit GM and Management Team in relation to all aspects of H&S, Environment, Wellness, and Security. Other duties will include:
  • Apply a thorough working knowledge and understanding of H&S regulatory compliance requirements for Canadian locations
  • Support field Operations and Business Unit leadership with development and implementation of sustainable management strategies to achieve Company H&S management system objectives
  • Facilitate incident investigation and root cause analysis activities to continually reduce risk and improve Company performance
  • Promote the use of Individual risk assessment methodologies to increase awareness of personal safety factors
  • Mentor and coach BU leadership in the use of techniques and employee-centered involvement initiatives that increase employee awareness of their role in ensuring a safe place of work
  • Responsible for implementation of corporate standards regarding H&S
  • Provide leadership and direction to all echelons of employees to continue to shape a world class safety culture
  • Provide training to employees in use of Health, Safety, Environmental and Wellness tools and Safe Days Process
  • Participate in Business Improvement Activities, Teambuilding Workshops and special working groups to continually improve performance
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Safety Management or related field is required
  • Advanced degree and/or professional certification preferred (CSO, CSP, CRSP, etc.)
  • 5+ years H&S experience in a chemical manufacturing, processing, or field service related industry involving chemical handling
  • Commercial explosives and/or mining industry experience preferred
  • 2+ years supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health, Health and Safety Management, Occupational Hygiene, and PSM
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and WebEx
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, communication and interpersonal skills; must have demonstrated follow-up and closure skills
  • Must be energetic and self-motivated to learn and become subject matter expert
  • Must be an English-speaker; fluency in French is also helpful
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
