DescriptionResponsible for client relations through psychoeducational and process groups and individual counselling.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops outcome-oriented treatment plans with individual clients to direct them towards a continuum of care that covers both mental health and substance use disorder.
  • Provides weekly individual counselling for clients throughout their stay
  • Monitors clients participation in the program and holds clients accountable to program requirements as well as principles of recovery
  • Ensures that lectures are prepared and given in a manner acceptable to the Treatment Program Manager, and in accordance with the program manual and the monthly schedule
  • Ensures proper documentation is completed
  • Ensures that clients become acclimatized to their new environment
  • Other duties as set out in the Job Description
HOURS: ON-CALL: VARIEDQUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willingness to adhere to the Mission and values of The Salvation Army.
  • One year related experience, including experience in the applicable community social services sector.
  • Prior 12-Step-based counselling experience and/or lived experience is considered an asset.
  • A working knowledge of substance addictions, homelessness, poverty issues and concurrent disorders and practical knowledge of life skills.
  • Ability to conduct group discussions, think critically, set strong boundaries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, organization and administration skills, and strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to work in a drug and alcohol free environment with zero tolerance policy.
  • Qualify for and be willing to obtain enhanced security clearance.
MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED:
  • The successful applicant will have completed ICADC, CCAC or University Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean drivers abstract
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
