The ABIF of McGill University has technical capabilities for standard widefield and confocal microscopy as well as advanced imaging such as live cell imaging, total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy, fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM), stimulated emission depletion super resolution microscopy, lattice lightsheet microscopy, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), image processing and analysis, spectral imaging and high content screening. Consultation: Work with researchers to determine appropriate infrastructure for experiments and develop experimental designs to address specific research questions. Including consultation on preparing samples, image analysis and preparing data for presentations and publications.2. Training: Perform training for users with a focus on widefield and confocal microscopy platforms.3. Maintenance: Execute regular maintenance on facility equipment. Develop and modify maintenance protocols on an ongoing basis. Interpret quality control information and initiate repairs if necessary. Document all equipment service.4. Policies and Procedures: Ensure all facility users adhere to facility policies and procedures. Ensure appropriate access to equipment for all facility users.5. Facility Management: Learn about general facility management, user engagement and assist with day-to-day facility tasks (e.g. order supplies, restock supplies, clean objective lenses, change gas tanks)6. Education: Educate facility users in the fundamentals of microscopy through assistance with teaching and support for microscopy courses and workshops.
