With a focus on innovation, accountability and service excellence, we strive to support our residents and internal stakeholders through effective and responsible financial management.The Finance Department is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join the Accounting Services Division. This role is ideal for a self-starter and collaborative professional who thrives in a municipal environment and brings strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement. The candidate must possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Reporting to the Manager of Accounting Services, the Accountant performs a variety of technical accounting functions including preparing financial statements, audit working papers, and statutory reporting. The role is responsible for reconciling and auditing accounting transactions, monitoring cash flow and bank activity, assisting in the implementation of an asset management program, in addition to maintaining and analyzing various accounts and records. The Accountant also reviews and improves accounting processes and internal controls, assists with external audit requirements, and provides guidance, support and training to internal staff on financial inquiries, processes and systems.Requirements include a professional accounting designation (CPA or legacy designation such as CPA-CA, CPA-CGA or CPA-CMA) and a minimum of five years of post-certification experience in progressively responsible accounting roles. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with intermediate to advanced proficiency in spreadsheet and financial systems.
