- Partner with Project Managers to ensure materials meet technical requirements, estimates, and delivery timelines
- Provide leadership to a team of procurement specialists, including recruiting, training, and offering ongoing mentorship
- Negotiate, manage, and ensure compliance with vendor agreements
- Promote best practices among Procurement Specialists and Project Manager/Estimators across all regions
- Develop purchasing policies, procedures, and manage the departmental budget
- Source and evaluate vendors, materials, equipment, and supplies for cost, quality, and service
- Lead or oversee all contract negotiations
- Contribute to product/equipment specifications and identify suitable alternative materials
- Manage supplier claims and oversee the supplier rebate program
- Identify procurement related business opportunities
- Support procurement team and Estimators with day to day pricing and purchasing needs
- Maintain and improve material pricing databases
- Lead procurement system development and training
- Work with vendors to secure value added services
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or, enrollment in a Supply Chain Management Association program, an asset
- 10+ years' experience as a Purchasing Specialist in the electrical construction industry
- 5 years' experience leading a procurement team
- Experience sourcing materials, equipment, and supplies in the electrical or construction Industry
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Experience with JD Edwards, an asset
- Experience managing relationships with electrical distributors/suppliers/manufacturers
- Experience with Procurement systems
- Proven ability to negotiate and manage risk
- Proven ability to successfully lead a team
