- Lead the annual review and update of ground control and seismic risk management plans.
- Direct geotechnical engineering design and analysis, including rock mass characterization, support standards, seismic risk mitigation, and life-of-mine plan reviews.
- Oversee the ground control team to ensure timely communication and resolution of geotechnical concerns.
- Ensure implementation of ground control quality assurance and quality control programs, including verification of support installation and testing activities.
- Lead geotechnical design initiatives such as cable bolting, pillar design, stope stability assessment, and backfill directives.
- Design and oversee installation of ground monitoring instrumentation and support seismic system enhancements.
- Maintain and update numerical geotechnical models to inform planning and risk management.
- Manage geotechnical studies and projects, coordinating with external consultants and integrating findings into operational procedures.
- Prepare, review, and validate technical reports related to site investigations and engineering recommendations.
- Mentor team members and support professional development within the ground control group.
- Deliver training presentations to operational personnel on ground control practices and system updates.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline; a master's degree is considered an asset.
- Professional engineering registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate regulatory body.
- Solid understanding of underground mine design and mining operations.
- Working knowledge of ground support systems, geotechnical design principles, and seismic risk considerations.
- Experience with mine planning and seismic monitoring software is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Authorization to work in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Minimum eight years of relevant professional experience.
- Ability to work a 7-on / 7-off rotational schedule.
The position offers a competitive remuneration package including a salary range of $115,990 – $163,510 with additional benefits and incentives. A Travel Allowance is also available for team members living outside of the region. Available marshalling points include: Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Toronto, and Rouyn-Noranda, QC. The mine site offers in-town accomodations for people on rotational schedules, including 7×7 days or 2×2 weeks options.Contact Us
