- We are seeking an experienced Paver Operator to join our highway and town asphalt crew. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of asphalt paving operations, works well within a team environment, and can maintain consistent production and quality.
- Employment: Seasonal
- Hours: Project dependent
- Must be willing to work evenings/nights and weekends on various schedules.
- Hourly rate is dependent on experience.

- Operate asphalt paver safely and efficiently on highway and municipal projects laying asphalt to resurface roads after underground utilities have been installed.
- Control depth and consistency of the asphalt being laid, operate paver controls to lower the screed auger while controlling the hopper.
- Coordinate, direct, and guide the trucks movement and delivery of asphalt to the paving machine.
- Progressive quality control for smoothness and finish on paved surfaces and making any adjustments and correcting deficiencies as you go.
- Perform pre-trip inspections on paving equipment - cleaning and greasing/lubricating and identifying/reporting equipment damage and maintenance required.
- Work efficiently with other team members to complete paving projects within the time constraints required.
- Work closely with screed operators, rollers, and foreman.
- Train and mentor junior employees.
- Provide feedback to supervisors and management on process improvements.
- When paving work not available, assist with other finishing and operating work such as operating sweeper, concrete placing/finishing, topsoiling, and seeding, site cleanup etc.
- Consistent work on highway and town projects.

- Minimum 4 years experience in utility construction road preparation and paving - finish work.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment - paving machines and rollers, safely and efficiently.
- Able to complete assigned tasks on the projects and direct others in the course of their work throughout the shift with excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
- Positive and motivated with the willingness to teach and learn.
- Must be able to work safely in a physically demanding environment while being outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Have a strong understanding of tools and materials on-site, including proper use and maintenance.
- Have knowledge of OH&S regulations and knowledge of construction disciplines (knowledge of materials and methods required).
- Willingness to perform other finishing work to assist with project wrap up and conclusion.
- Construction Safety Training Systems CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015, and Ground Disturbance 201 are required.
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
- Must have a valid class 5 (or better) driver's license.
- A driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
- An outgoing and optimistic personality.
- Must have strong communication skills.
- Must be willing to work overtime, when necessary.
- Must comply with all company policies.
- Must have a basic understanding on computer programs, such as Microsoft Excel, and Google drive.
- A reliable means of transportation is required.
- Proficient English language skills required.
- A successful pre-access drug and Alcohol test may be required depending on the project.
