Adecco is currently hiring an Operations Manager (Building & Facilities) for a full-time permanent opportunity based in Iqaluit. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing complex mixed-use building operations in a remote northern environment.This position is ideal for an experienced facilities or operations leader with strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and boiler operations, combined with proven people leadership skills and the ability to thrive in a northern community setting. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, reliability, and long-term performance of approximately 500,000 sq. ft. of mixed-use residential, commercial, and hospitality assets. The successful candidate will provide hands-on operational leadership, technical oversight, and team management while supporting service excellence in a remote environment.Salary: $155,000/yearLocation: Iqaluit, NUSchedule: Full-timeEmployment Type: Permanent | Full-timeResponsibilitiesProvide day-to-day operational leadership across residential, commercial, and hospitality facilitiesOversee mechanical systems, including boiler plant operations, preventative maintenance, and emergency responseEnsure safe, efficient, and compliant building operations in accordance with standards and regulationsRespond quickly and effectively to operational emergencies such as heating or water system failuresCoordinate and manage external contractors, vendors, and service providersLead operational teams through hands-on involvement and visible leadership in daily activitiesBuild trust and engagement with long-standing staff in a relationship-driven environmentImplement process improvements while managing change in a collaborative and consistent mannerManage operational budgets, service contracts, and cost control initiativesSupport capital planning, infrastructure upgrades, and long-term asset strategyMaintain accurate reporting, documentation, and communication with senior leadershipDevelop strong working relationships with local stakeholders, suppliers, and contractorsOperate effectively in a small, remote community with high visibility and accountabilityQualificationsMust be eligible to work and reside within CanadaStrong background in facilities management, building operations, or industrial operationsClass 4 Power Engineering Certificate (required)Class 3 Power Engineering Certificate (preferred)Experience managing mixed-use properties (residential, commercial, hospitality, or similar)Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and boiler plant operationsProven experience handling emergency response situations in operational environmentsDemonstrated leadership experience in a facilities or operations management roleWillingness and readiness to live full-time in a remote northern communityLeadership CompetenciesHands-on leadership approach with willingness to work alongside operational teamsStrong relationship-building skills with staff, contractors, and stakeholdersClear, calm, and confident communication style in both routine and high-pressure situationsAbility to lead change in a respectful and consistent manner within established teamsNorthern Living FitSuccessful candidates must demonstrate readiness for northern living, including:Understanding of remote community dynamics and climate conditionsAbility to adapt personally and professionally to isolation and unique living conditionsCommitment to a minimum two-year relocation and integration into the communityWork EnvironmentRemote northern setting with limited urban infrastructureHigh-responsibility operational environment with critical building systemsHands-on leadership role requiring visibility and engagement on-siteInterested in this position?
