
Lane Closure Technician (LCT)

- Lead Traffic Control persons, providing direction and guidance to set up and tear down signs, work zone delineations, and ensure safe traffic control.
- Set up traffic control zones.
- Give clear and precise traffic control directions and signals for motorists' understanding.
- Monitor the traffic and work zone and modify when scope of work changes.
- Effectively conduct traffic control at worksites within the scope of training to protect workers, the public, and our employees.
- Comply with all Acts, Regulations, Guidelines, Policies, and Procedures for health and safety.
- Participate in accident/incident investigations as required and complete necessary forms and reports for due diligence and compliance.
- Conduct traffic control at Special Events when required, following the direction of the company's Special Events coordinator.
- Attend health and safety tool-box/tailgate meetings to discuss work related matters.
- Hazards must be addressed in a Field Level Risk Assessment (FLRA) and must be complete prior to work commencing.
- Report directly to the contractor's site supervisor, taking their direction for traffic control setup and safety if no Lane Closure Technician or Traffic Control Supervisor from the company is on-site.
- Report health and safety matters, non-compliance issues, or conflicts with any company employee to the company's Area Manager or Health and Safety Officer.
- Always wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by WorkSafeBC regulations or site safety rules, policies, or procedures.
- Use proper protocol when using two-way radios and refrain from the use of profane or vulgar language.
- Ensures the BC Traffic Control Person (TCP) certificate is maintained to be current and valid at all times.

- Minimum 6 months of BC LCT experience.
- Current TCP certification recognized by WorkSafeBC or equivalent provincial regulator.
- Drivers License with a clean driving record.
- Possession of and ability to use a smartphone with a data plan.
- Good knowledge and understanding of the WorkSafeBC Regulations for Traffic Control, Part 18.
- Knowledge and understanding of the WCB Act, sections 115-117, General Duties.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Management Manual for Work on Roadways as developed by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
- Knowledge of the requirements of the British Columbia Motor Vehicle Act and other regulations related to traffic control.
