We are a global company headquartered in Vancouver, BC, with operations in Bellevue, WA, Dublin, Ireland, Singapore and Redwood City, CA.About the PositionWe are currently seeking a Co-op Student to join our Immunology team, a part of the Multispecific Antibody Therapeutics (MSAT) group. The successful candidate will be involved in designing and executing immunological assays to interrogate novel biology and fuel the development of innovative biotherapeutics.This position will be based in Vancouver, BC. The candidates must be available to work on site without relocation assistance.The hourly wage for this co-op position is $21.00 CAD.What You'll Do
- Support mammalian tissue culture activities of the immunology group using aseptic techniques
- Ensure cell lines are properly maintained, expanded, frozen down and databases updated as required
- Assist in interrogating novel biology utilizing flow cytometry, high content imaging, mesoscale discovery (MSD), RNA sequencing, quantitative polymerase chain reaction assays (qPCR), or other techniques
- Execute functional immunological assays such as on-cell binding, internalization, reporter gene assays (RGA), primary cell co-culture assays, etc.
- Gain understanding of immunology fundamentals, antibody therapeutics and related project(s) background
- Adhere to Zymeworks standard procedures for generating, documenting and archiving data and maintaining an accurate, up-to-date lab notebook or electronic notebook
- Analyze data, prepare slides, and communicate results
- Work closely with other members of the assays team and conduct all activities in accordance with scientific standards, OS&H regulations and established Zymeworks policies and practices
- Currently be enrolled in an undergraduate program in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology or a related discipline.
- Availability for an 8-month co-op term is required
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team
- Good computer skills particularly with Excel, PowerPoint and GraphPad Prism
- Basic working knowledge of immunology fundamentals and antibody structure/ function
- Organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high-paced, fast-changing environment
- Enthusiasm for learning, innovation and discovery
