- Receive, prioritize, and plan the execution of survey tasks as requested from stakeholders throughout the mine.
- Train and supervise members of the survey team.
- Create and update standard operating procedures for all recurring survey tasks.
- Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of equipment in the survey group.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to the survey processes, software, and equipment.
- Validate and process data, perform calculations, and produce reports based on survey results.
- Ensure the timely delivery of complete and accurate survey information for month-end reporting.
- Create and maintain databases of all job aspects, such as imagery, surfaces, point data, as-builts, buried infrastructure, areas, and volumes.
- Promote safe working practices and regularly complete and review field-level risk assessments and non-routine hazardous task forms.
- Ensure the availability of survey supplies.
- Perform field surveying tasks as required.
- 5+ years of work experience in open-pit mining.
- Advanced knowledge and expertise in survey principles and techniques.
- Experience with CAD and survey software and equipment.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Self-motivated with track record of successfully working independently.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to create a positive work environment.
- Willing to adapt and work in an inclusive work environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Full proficiency in English.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid drone pilots license.
- Membership in a recognized land surveying professional association is an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
