• Spread asphalt with a rake using efficient techniques and maintaining a good pace.
• Shovel excess asphalt and sweep up debris.
• Responsible for the proper match points and limits of asphalt mix adjacent to concrete structures, manholes, water valves and other fixtures within the road surface.
• Use asphalt rake to blend and level seams in the mat, reducing visible marks and seams in the asphalt surface.
• Measure and string the boundaries of the road surface as a guide for the paver. Verify, estimate and set the angle and depth of the screed as required.
• Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company's Code of Ethics.
• Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.
• Other operation related duties as required.

• High School diploma or G.E.D preferred
• Class 5 drivers license required
• Minimum 3 - 5 years road construction experience
• Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience as an asphalt raker and an understanding of asphalt raking techniques.

• Weather dependent schedule of 24 working days and 4 days off. Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable employment standards legislation.
• Ability to work out-of-town and remote locations may be required. Accomodations and Live Out Allowance is applicable in most situations.
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
• Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
• Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
• Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
