We are looking for 2nd or 3rd year Welding Apprentices that can do metal core flat and horizontal GMAW.Only candidates living in Leduc, Edmonton or surrounding area will be considered.Aspen is looking for new team members to add to our growing workforce. We continue to grow and have many openings. Apprentices wanting to become Welder / Fitters are welcome to apply. Two shifts available. Shift premiums. Large clean indoor shop with safe work practices. Be a part of a great team of long service employees. We have been in business for 45 years and have continued to grow each year.Primary Responsibilities
  • Ability to use welding and fabrication tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams, fit and assemble accordingly.
  • Capable of FCAW, MCAW, SMAW. CWB certifications an asset but not necessary.
  • Gouging, plasma cutting, lancing and crack repair.
  • Quality assurance and control.
  • Ensures effective equipment maintenance, safety and housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Build and maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Overhead crane operation.
  • Must be able to work in awkward positions.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a regular cleaning schedule to ensure the shop is kept tidy and well organized upon completion of work assignments
  • Ensure racking is kept in an order that work orders are easily accessible
  • Attend toolbox meeting prior to shift

Qualifications
  • Typically 1-3 years of experience.
  • GMAW, FCAW and SMAW
  • Gouging (air arc), Plasma, lancing and oxy acetylene experience and asset.
  • All position welding is required.
  • Crane certification an asset but training can be supplied.
  • Must have a strong work ethic
  • Must be quick to learn new skills
Physical Requirements
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs - fitness test required
  • Standing on your feet for a long period of time
  • Have good eye to hand coordination
  • Be able to bend, crouch and kneel for extended periods
  • Ability to wear personal protective gear most of the day
  • Casual work clothes that meet safety requirements (Coveralls provided), PPE required (Steel Toe Boots, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection)
Shift Availability
  • Days - Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
  • Afternoons - Monday - Friday 4:00 - 2:30pm
