- Business development to generate leads, secure MSA, prepare proposals
- Expertise in power system studies with emphasis on EMT analysis.
- Perform or coordinate systems analysis activities including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient and small-signal stability analysis
- Preparation of functional specifications for facility requirements related to different system development portfolios, for purposes of developing preliminary designs and obtaining estimates for the associated facilities
- Review of planning/system performance studies for compliance with prevailing standards and criteria and good engineering practice
- Preparing comprehensive reports on the conduct of the studies, the study results and appropriate conclusions and recommendations
- Prepare and deliver presentations to clients
- Project Management
- Mentoring and developing junior engineers within the department
- Maintaining close coordination with other relevant Hatch Business Units and Practices for cross-selling and cross staffing opportunities.
- Undertake thought leadership activities (e.g. speaker at conferences, panelist, whitepaper, etc.) and promote Hatch's know-how in the Power and T&D sector in the region.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering; preference will be given to candidates with post-graduate (Master or PhD) degrees in Power System Planning
- Registration with applicable other Canadian provincial engineering association (or demonstrated eligibility for registration)
- Intimate familiarity with EMT software, such as PSCAD, and experience in both AC and DC system studies. Experiences in EMT studies for generation and transmission, renewable energy, battery storage, and HVDC and other power electronic and inverter-based resource (IBR) systems. Although the position will require a certain level of hands-on operation of the software, the leader must be able to train/mentor junior/intermediate users and carry out QA reviews. Knowledge of other EMT type of applications, including RTDS, EMTP, is optional but desirable.
- Familiarity with the PSS®E software package, including all modules for load-flow, short-circuit and transient stability analysis, and including understanding of batch programming using PYTHON. Knowledge of alternative planning software applications, including DSA Tools, PSLF or DigSilent.
