- Lead strategic direction for medical education, research, and clinical partnerships across the Maritime provinces, ensuring alignment with institutional and regional priorities in support of patient-centered care.
- Strengthen distributed medical education and expansion of rural and community-based training to improve access and outcomes for underserved populations.
- Champion equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility (EDIA), Reconciliation, and Indigenization across admissions, curriculum, leadership, and community engagement.
- Advance research excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration, with a focus on regional health priorities and global impact.
- Deepen partnerships with health authorities, Indigenous and African Nova Scotian communities, and government stakeholders to align academic and clinical missions.
- Promote operational excellence by navigating fiscal challenges with transparency, supporting fundraising efforts, and fostering a culture of respect, innovation, and wellness.
- A medical degree (MD or equivalent) with a distinguished record in medical education, research, and/or clinical practice.
- Significant leadership experience, including strategic planning, financial oversight, and leading interdisciplinary teams in complex environments.
- Ability to navigating financial challenges, enhancing operational efficiency, and securing funding to support long-term sustainability.
- A demonstrated commitment to advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA), as well as engaging with decolonization, reconciliation and Indigenization.
- Commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture and promoting scholarly excellence, with collaboration across academic and clinical settings.
- Demonstrated success in building and sustaining partnerships with government, health authorities, and community groups.
- A leadership style grounded in empathy, integrity, and collaboration, with a focus on wellness for faculty, staff, and learners.
- Strong communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to represent the Faculty internally and externally.
- A student-centered approach and dedication to innovation and excellence in teaching, learning, and research.
- Experience with, or a strong understanding of, distributed education and multi-campus academic environments.
- A PhD or MSc and a strong track record of research excellence.
- A reputation as a forward-thinking leader with a deep understanding of emerging trends in medicine and medical education, including digital transformation and AI.
- Experience developing interprofessional and cross-Faculty educational initiatives.
- Insight into the unique healthcare needs of Atlantic Canadians and the structure of Canadian health systems.
- Experience in fundraising, alumni engagement, and building strategic external partnerships.
