Park Hosts provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all park users. The Park Host team has a positive impact on creating a supportive culture, where all users can enjoy the park together. They educate users on safe park use and proper etiquette. New in 2024, Park Hosts help administer the City’s Free Wheelin, equipment lending program, that provides youth free equipment to use while at the park (bikes, skateboards, scooters, helmets, and pads). Park Hosts will liaise with supporting city departments, report vandalism, and help keep the park safe for all users. An ability to skateboard and/or bike ride is an asset.Auxiliary status employees will be paid an additional 15% in lieu of vacation, holiday, sick leave beyond the statutory requirement, and other benefits, per the CUPE Local 50 Collective Agreement.POSITION FUNCTIONThe Day Camp leader is responsible for leading and supervising children in a variety of day camp activities. This role helps to support camp programming that is safe, engaging and fun and plays a key role in providing guidance and support to camp attendees.KEY DUTIES
  • Main tasks include programming, leading and supervising children in camps throughout the summer.
  • Knowledge of games, crafts, sports, outdoor recreation, weekly program planning and risk management.
INDEPENDENCEWork is performed following established routines and is reviewed by supervisor.KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to engage and effectively work with children
  • Complete forms accurately.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Work safely on job site.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C are required.
  • A Class 4 Driver’s License is an asset.
  • Successful applicants will be required to provide a vulnerable sector criminal record clearance as a condition of employment.
