
Accessibility Expert/Designer

- Create and maintain accessible corporate collateral—including brochures, flyers, reports, and presentations—using Adobe InDesign, with a strong focus on accessibility from the start.
- Populate content accurately and efficiently, ensuring full compliance with accessibility standards (AODA, EAA, WCAG 2.0/2.1), while adhering to brand guidelines.
- Remediate and validate documents using tools such as Adobe Acrobat’s Accessibility Checker and PAC (PDF Accessibility Checker) to ensure compliance with PDF/UA and WCAG standards.
- Collaborate with translation and localization teams to prepare accessible source files (including A4 versions and IDML exports) for international use.
- Support document tagging, reading order, alt text application, and metadata for screen readers and assistive technologies.
- Partner with marketing, design, and communications teams to advocate for accessibility-first design practices.
- Maintain detailed documentation for all accessible files, including audit trails, revision histories, and tagging structures.
- Ensure consistent use of naming conventions and follow internal processes for digital asset management (DAM) and file distribution.
- Manage multiple projects efficiently under tight timelines while upholding high accessibility and design standards.
- Proven experience in a production or publishing role focused on accessible document design using Adobe InDesign.
- Deep understanding of AODA, EAA, and WCAG accessibility standards and how they apply to corporate communications.
- Proficient in accessibility validation and remediation using tools such as PAC, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and assistive technologies (e.g., NVDA, JAWS).
- Experience working with translated content and localization processes, including file preparation for international distribution.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially when working across departments.
- Familiarity with project management tools like Trello.
- Bonus: Knowledge of HTML/CSS and web accessibility principles.
- Proficiency in other Adobe Creative Suite tools (Photoshop, Illustrator) is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in design, Communications, Accessibility, or a related field preferred.
