The GO Expansion scope: new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.ObjectiveThe Network Engineer will participate in Network and Telecom design team in designing, deploiying and validating network and telecom solutions. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.Essential ResponsibilitiesMulti-disciplinary environment working with the design, engineering, and the commissioning of integrated radio and TCP/IP networks. Solutions utilize licensed and unlicensed voice and data radios, LAN/WAN networks, and back office servers as well as other communication links between locomotives, between locomotives and wayside equipment, and/or between wayside and central office locations:Knowledge of network hardware including servers, routers, and other computer devicesUse system requirements to design and deploy networks and virtual solutionsDevelop testing, verification, and validation procedures as well as execute the proceduresStrong project management and organizational skills.Create and maintain documentation including System Functional Specifications and Interface Control DocumentsTrace system requirements to DOORSProduce Verification & Validation (V&V) test plans under the supervision of Project V&V LeaderProduce requirement based V&V procedures and datasheetsAuthor Project V&V test reportsExecute and lead V&V testing across multiple platformsPerform verification reports for requirements, design documents, test reports, etcFollow V&V technical processes in line with business objectives for technical and project team environmentDocument test results, identify problems and solutions, and communicate with EngineeringPerform Communications Engineering tasks in support of program objectivesTrace system requirements to DOORSUnderstanding of of system and subsystem-level requirementsDevelop & peer review test procedures and documentation to validate system requirementsDocument technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and proceduresNetwork troubleshootingEnsure Data Communication System project team members are aligned with V&V planEnsure documents be delivered as per project Documentation plan (Documentation Master List) in line with project Development For Quality Gate Reviews milestonesParticipate in radio and network design activitiesParticipate upon request to Installation and Test & Commissioning activitiesPerform other related duties as assignedQualifications/Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience in networking or telecommunication10+ years experienceP.
