This Legal Assistant role supports one lawyer, focusing on commercial lending and real estate transactions. Unlike typical legal assistant roles supporting multiple lawyers, this position offers the opportunity to work more closely with a single legal professional, allowing for deeper collaboration and skill development. It's a fast-paced environment that values initiative, precision, and a proactive approach to client service.About The Position
- Drafting and preparing legal documents for banking and commercial real estate transactions, including security documentation, trust fund disbursements, and registration of documents with the Land Title Office and Personal Property Registry
- Conducting real estate-related due diligence and preparing reporting materials
- Managing physical and electronic files, including maintaining bring-forward systems
- Coordinating meetings and communicating with clients in a professional manner
- Delegating and coordinating administrative tasks across internal teams
- Supporting billing and document management using firm systems
- Legal Assistant or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years in a legal assistant role, preferably within corporate commercial law, real estate, or secured lending
- Experience with software and tools such as Microsoft Office 365, Adobe, and ideally 3E, InTapp, iManage, and DocuSign
- Strong understanding of BC Land Title Office registration and e-filing processes
- Solid working knowledge of real estate forms, terminology, and transactions
- Familiarity with BC Online, LTSA, and municipal databases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Salary: $50,000 - $75,000 DOE
