
Microwave Technician

- Installation and maintenance: Performing installation, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of high and low-capacity microwave radio systems and their associated components, including antennas, waveguides, and power supplies.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance: Conducting routine checks and maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of microwave equipment, as well as diagnosing and resolving issues or malfunctions.
- Testing and optimization: Utilizing specialized test equipment such as microwave power meters, spectrum analyzers, and computers to validate system performance, identify potential problems, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards like FCC rules.
- Circuit management: Installing, maintaining, and repairing various types of circuits including DS0, T1, DS3, OC3, EPL, and IP-based connectivity architectures.
- Documentation and reporting: Maintaining accurate records of installations, repairs, and system configurations, including updating documentation and generating reports as needed.
- Safety compliance: Strict adherence to safety procedures and regulations, especially when working around towers or at elevated heights.
- Technical expertise: Knowledge of microwave radio principles, RF systems, and various circuit architectures.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively.
- Equipment proficiency: Experience with various tools and test equipment used for microwave radio installation and maintenance.
- Communication and teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other technicians, engineers, and clients, as well as possessing strong communication skills for effective reporting and interaction.
- Physical capabilities: May involve working in confined spaces, climbing ladders and towers, and lifting equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility and adaptability: Willingness to work flexible hours, be on-call for emergencies, and adapt to changing technologies and client needs.
While specific requirements may vary, typical qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a strong preference for those with an associate's degree in electronics, telecommunications, or a related field.
- Experience in Aviat Networks radio installation, maintenance, and repair work.
- Certifications such as the ETA International Microwave Radio Technician (MRT) credential or other industry-recognized certifications may be beneficial.
The role involves physical demands and challenging working conditions, such as:
- 100% Travel and working in remote locations.
- Climbing ladders, lifting equipment up to 50 pounds, Sitting, standing, and walking (95-100%).
- Being available for unusual hours or on-call duties. Maintaining a clean and safe workspace is also required.
