- Lead the financial planning and forecasting processes for the organization, ensuring accurate and comprehensive financial models are developed to support strategic decision-making.
- Build financial models, bridges and consolidation templates to support executive leadership reviews of monthly forecasts and annual plans.
- Manage the departmental budgeting process, collaborating with key stakeholders to establish realistic financial targets and tracking performance against budgets throughout the fiscal year.
- Participate in month end close activities by analyzing expense accounts, investigating variances and providing concise variance explanations to support review of consolidated financial results.
- Lead financial analysis and risk assessments, identifying potential opportunities and challenges to recommend appropriate actions to optimize financial performance and mitigate risk.
- Monitor, forecast, analyze and report on in-year variances to budget; advising on accruals, and year-end adjustments.
- Actively seek opportunities for process improvement, cost saving opportunities & escalate high risk activity.
- Work with cross-functional teams to prepare analysis on the financial impact of strategic initiatives, business opportunities, and potential risk.
- Prepare financial models and business cases for various business decisions.
- Assist with ad-hoc and cross-functional projects and initiatives as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics or Accounting with enrollment in or completion of a professional designation (CPA, CFA or MBA) preferred.
- 4+ years experience in and financial planning & analysis, investment banking or corporate development.
- Demonstrates strong financial acumen and proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and financial analysis tools.
- Strong Business Acumen with ability to drive data-driven decision making.
- Previous experience working with all levels of an organization including presenting to c-suite and senior level leaders.
- Experience working with accounting software Sage300 & Vena preferred but not required.
- Advanced skills in Excel; working knowledge of macros, SQL, PowerBI or Power Query an asset.
- Excellent communication (verbal, written and comprehension) and presentation skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines.
