- Establishes, communicates and assigns job responsibilities, goals and performance standards for employees within supervisory responsibility.
- Evaluates performance, provides feedback, and recommends merit and promotional increases.
- Conducts meetings with plant departmental personnel to communicate, coordinate and discuss plant operations including areas such as production, quarry, maintenance, quality control, environmental, special projects, etc.
- Reviews and approves purchase requisitions as defined in the purchasing matrix.
- Collaborates with the Plant Manager and other staff regarding plant operations, strategic goals and improvements.
- Monitors, inspects and reviews all plant activities including production operations, maintenance activities, quality control, environmental matters, etc.
- Ensures production and maintenance schedules correspond with forecasted sales.
- Meets with various government agencies pertaining to compliance with regulations, policies and standards. and community groups concerning plant activities
- Ensures reports regarding plant production operations, quality control, environmental activities are completed timely.
- Assists in the preparation of annual capital and operating budget plans for the plant.
- Analyzes plant costs and explores methods to improve productivity in a cost-effective manner.
- Conducts labor relations meetings with local union representatives, handles second step grievances, assists in the planning of and participates in union negotiations.
- Promotes the safety program, enforces compliance with safety standards, conducts and/or participates in safety meetings.
- Interviews employment applicants for available plant positions.
- Discusses new products, equipment and ideas with staff and vendors.
- Reviews and approves accounts payable invoices for payment.
- Participates in the negotiation of raw material, service, and construction contracts.
