- Plan Audit – contact vendor and create and document an audit plan, under supervision
- Assists in completing non-code Audits – normally a 2 to 3 day activity where the Quality Surveyors trainee is expected to support the review a vendor’s entire QA program to a specific standard by interviewing different people at different levels of the organization and determine if the vendor meets that standard, identify the deficiencies, and determine if BWXT NEC can do business with that vendor.
- Audit Report – document findings on a report.
- Surveillance – Perform minor surveillance activities as directed. Document results of surveillance on report.
- Review IMs during RFQ process to ensure descriptions and QA codes are accurate and complete, as required.
- Approve vendor POs.
- Review and accept vendor procedures and reports.
- Ensure acceptance criteria, verification strategies and product/process validations are defined and executed.
- Determine receiving inspection requirements and document in JDE.
- Accept and release product, after receiving inspection is complete.
- Documenting issues identified on NRs, QAIRs, and QAAs.
- Interpret drawings, technical documents, procedures, codes and standards.
- Support QAEAs by overseeing and signing-off on the work they do (ITPs, QARs, IMs, serial number plans, etc)
- Interact with Engineering to determine appropriate disposition of non-conformances, concession applications and corrective actions.
- University or college degree in engineering, science, or technology.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Licensed Ontario professional engineer.
- Basic knowledge of non-destructive examination reports (RT, UT, LP, MP, etc.), dimensional inspection techniques and weld inspection.
- Inspection and testing QA planning or equivalent
- Product/Process/Equipment qualification experience.
- Experience interpreting drawings and technical documents.
- Experience applying and interpreting ASME NCA 3800 and 4000, NQA-1, CSA N285, N286, N299, ISO 9001.
- Strong technical background.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, to be understood by a diverse audience.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
