In return, we promise to provide support, opportunities and performance-led financial rewards at a workplace where you can shape the future, win as a team and grow with us.About the roleWe’re looking for a Director, Coast Underwriters Ltd to join our growing team!What you’ll do here:Drive Specialty Solutions profitability and growth and contribute to the strategic planLead a team of managers responsible for various lines of businessProvide coaching, performance feedback and facilitate continuous development and succession planningDetermine team objectives, assign responsibilities and provide coaching with complex and problem files requiring authorizationDetermine and establish key measures to monitor productivity and technical quality, identify opportunities for improvement, and enhance essential business processesDevelop and recommend policy direction and underwriting guidelines to drive improved or increased resultsManage key relationships between corporate and divisional Specialty Solutions teamsBe accountable for the delivery of key operational initiatives and lead projects, such as technology, corporate liaison, centre of excellence, product development and operational implementationAct as the team's underwriting authority on issues related to risk pricing, selection, and retention governed by the parameters of the corporate underwriting philosophyConduct audits to verify the soundness of underwriting practices and risk selection, and to identify areas for potential improvementDetermine required staffing numbers and staffing levels based on established regional management and corporate guidelinesLiaise with the regional management team, underwriting managers, corporate underwriting, and claims management on technical and administrative issuesProvide monthly updates and reports to the Vice President on all operational itemsWhat you bring to the table:Combination of education and experienceMinimum 10 years of Marine Insurance experienceSound knowledge of Specialty Solutions linesEffective communication skills to develop and foster business relationships, both internally and externallyStrategic thinking with the ability to focus on attention to detailLeadership ability to influence and motivate people and drive changeProven track record setting clear objectives and monitoring the progress of multiple projects against deadlinesAddress complex problems and take calculated risks to make decisions in time sensitive situationsCan monitor competitive practices, business trends, and other developments impacting business results and recommend changes in regional practicesProven ability to develop, mentor, and train staffStrong follow-up and execution on work and projectsNo Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada#LI-HybridSalary of the successful candidate will typically be positioned between the following range, taking into consideration a number of factors including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, location and internal equity: $140,200.00 - $210,200.00What we offerOur hybrid work model provides the balance between working from home and enjoying meaningful in-person interactions.Working here means you'll be empowered to be and do your best every day.
