At Rocky, we believe in bringing people to nature, by bringing nature to them — building natural communities that appreciate the value of simple, natural products within their everyday lives.The positionThe Head of Stores is a director-level position responsible for leading the retail store teams and leaders, and is accountable for the performance of the entire retail operation.Reporting to the VP of Growth, the Head of Stores partners with the cross-functional leadership team and supports the executive leadership team, focused on developing and leading strategic initiatives that support the company’s growth objectives. The Head of Stores is passionate, enthusiastic about building relationships, and is committed to nurturing the customer and employee experience.The Head of Stores works in a hybrid capacity (from the Workshop in Canmore, Alberta), and regularly conducts store visits across the country.What you'll be doing Head of Stores
  • Accountable for all aspects of the in-store experience, leveraging our partners cross functionally to ensure a consistent in-store experience that reflects the Rocky brand & values, both to our internal and external customers.
  • Partner cross functionally to create relevant content and in-store experiences that support Rocky’s seasonal campaigns & initiatives, and deliver the defined revenue and metric for the channel.
  • Create, deploy and ensure sustainment of all product and experience related retail training and tools, along with the related onboarding pathway for new team members.
  • Actively conduct regular store visits with all retail stores to monitor and support all aspects of customer and team experience and store operations.
People & Culture
  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring & onboarding of Store Leaders that reflect Rocky’s culture and values, while supporting and guiding Store Leaders to fill their store with the same.
  • Utilizing varied methods, ensure team members feel their contributions are valued, and their work is meaningful, and recognized.
  • Oversee the Retail Leadership team members to ensure store teams are equipped with tools, processes, job aids, information, etc. as needed to meet the expectations of their role.
  • Coach and advise leaders, providing guidance and partnership to achieve success in their business goals & quarterly focuses. Engage in conversations that inspire, challenge, push skill development, knowledge and confidence to deliver results in their stores.
Operations
  • Support Store Leaders in all aspects of their role responsibilities to ensure smooth and efficient store operations, while safeguarding Rocky’s financial assets.
  • Responsible for ensuring the appropriate deployment of store labour. Through feedback and insight, inform labour planning that is appropriate to support all aspects of retail operations, support a consistent and quality experience, and is financially responsible to the set budget.
  • Support Rocky’s store opening/closing stores, in partnership with the Retail Leadership team. Ensuring merchandising standards/expectations are set, recruitment/onboarding of the entire new store team.
  • Safeguard company assets by ensuring stores and company property are appropriately secured. This includes store keys and locks, cash handling and related loss prevention processes.
Financial Responsibility
  • Retail revenue to budget, metric performance to target
  • Retail labour management to defined labour allowance y period
  • Profit & Loss management by store location
Does this sound like you?
  • 8+ years of experience in retail management
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated business acumen and previous experience in driving key retail KPI’s and store performance
  • Proven experience in the ability to ensure high customer and team member satisfaction to drive sales growth and manage store profitability
  • Strong team player, creativity and leadership skills
  • A self-motivated individual, organized, detail oriented who can multi-task, and meet dynamic timelines
  • Have led or been an integral part of a team in a retail setting
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and able to provide own transportation when visiting stores
