About This OpportunityOpportunity Type: Half-time to Full-time Family PhysicianEstimated Annual Salary – $140 000 (half-time) to $280 000 (full-time) [$160/hour + annual incentives]Type of Remuneration – Sessional fundingThe Newcomer Health Clinic is seeking a Family Physician to join this collaborative team consisting of Family Physicians, Registered Nurses, Dietitian, Social Work, Administration Support, and various visiting Specialists (Pediatrics, Psychiatry, etc). The Newcomer Health Clinic has a focused mandate to support newly arrived refugees during their first 1-2 years in Canada (ideally). Patients are supported with finding and transitioning to a family practice in the community. Interpretive services are well integrated into clinical processes and covered by provincial government.Previous experience or education in refugee health or global health is an asset but not necessary. Our team is very supportive and readily available to help learn the ropes. No matter how busy the clinic is, new physicians are always encouraged to knock on a colleague’s door if they have any questions. The most important asset is compassion. Working in refugee health is stressful and challenging, however, it is also incredibly rewarding so long as your heart is in the right place.
