Each brand benefits from the global scale and shared best practices that come from ownership by Restaurant Brands International Inc.ABOUT THE ROLEThe Director, Field Operations is a senior leadership position on the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen (PLK) Canadian Leadership Team, responsible for the performance, profitability, and growth of the Popeyes restaurant system across Canada. This role is the primary lead for the franchisee body and serves as a key voice on the Canadian Leadership Team with respect to the field teams and all restaurant facing communications.This leader will build deep, trusted relationships with franchisees, lead and develop a high-performing Field Operations team, and partner cross-functionally to drive sustainable business outcomes. The ideal candidate is a seasoned operations executive with a track record of influencing franchisee performance in a multi-unit QSR or retail environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESStrategic Leadership
  • Serve as a senior member of the PLK Canadian Leadership Team, contributing to national strategy across operations, development, and franchising.
  • Act as a primary content owner and franchisee engagement lead on the Popeyes Advisory Council (PAC), an advisory body that aligns brand strategy with franchisee requirements.
  • Develop and communicate a clear operational vision for the Canadian market, translating brand strategy into field execution plans.
Field Operations & Team Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a national Field Operations team, setting clear performance expectations and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Drive improvements in guest experience across the Canadian system, as measured by Guest Satisfaction scores, Brand Standards & Food Safety evaluations.
  • Consult with franchisees and their operations teams on business performance and financial health, identifying opportunities and deploying targeted improvement tactics.
Franchisee Partnership & Engagement
  • Build and maintain deep, genuine relationships with franchisees, developing a thorough understanding of their businesses, markets, and growth objectives.
  • Influence franchisees to adopt brand initiatives, uphold brand standards, and invest in the long-term health of their restaurant portfolios.
  • Partner with franchisees on restaurant-level and business-level P&L analysis, identifying profitability levers and supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for franchisees on all matters related to operations, profitability, and market development.
  • Navigate difficult franchisee conversations with confidence and professionalism — including addressing underperformance, brand standards non-compliance, and franchise agreement obligations — while preserving productive long-term relationships.
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Collaborate with internal teams — including Marketing, Analytics, Finance, Procurement, Development, and Technology — to develop and implement initiatives that drive system-wide growth.
  • Champion the adoption of restaurant technology with franchisees — including POS systems, digital ordering platforms, operations dashboards, and kitchen management tools — ensuring franchisees are equipped to compete in an increasingly digital QSR landscape.
  • Work with Learning & Development partners to design and deploy training and support programs across all levels of restaurant operations.
  • Gather and synthesize franchisee feedback to identify systemic issues, share best practices, and inform brand strategy.
  • Present operational strategy updates and initiative progress to field teams, franchisees, and senior leadership stakeholders.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORExperience & Education
  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in QSR, multi-unit restaurant, retail, or food & beverage operations, with a minimum of 3–5 years in a senior or director-level leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience working within or alongside a franchise system, with deep understanding of the franchisee relationship and the dynamics of influencing without direct authority.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality Management, or a related field; MBA or equivalent an asset.
Functional Competencies
  • Restaurant P&L fluency — able to diagnose performance gaps, identify levers for improvement, and hold meaningful financial conversations with franchisee operators.
  • Capital investment acumen — comfortable evaluating ROI on new builds, remodels, and equipment upgrades in support of productive franchisee business planning.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data and translate insights into clear recommendations.
  • Change management capability — experienced in leading franchisees and their teams through system-wide transformations including menu changes, technology rollouts, remodels, and operational process redesigns.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and virtual collaboration platforms (MS Teams, Zoom).
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire a geographically dispersed team.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills — able to establish credibility quickly with franchisees and earn their trust as a genuine business partner.
  • Skilled communicator and presenter — effective at translating complex topics for diverse audiences including franchisees, field teams, and senior leadership.
  • High integrity, personal accountability, and a genuine passion for brand excellence and team success.
  • Bilingual (French/English) is a strong asset given the national scope of the role.
