- Establish and lead Vertex’s BCA/PCA service line, including methodology, standards, and delivery model
- Define what constitutes a high-quality, defensible assessment, with a focus on clarity and capital planning insight
- Act as Engineer of Record, reviewing and sealing reports in accordance with provincial regulations
- Serve as the primary technical authority for all BCA/PCA and reserve fund work
- Build, train, and mentor a team of technologists, inspectors, and field staff, leveraging Vertex’s broader technical team as needed
- Develop standardized inspection protocols, checklists, and guidance tools
- Implement a scalable model where field staff collect data and senior technical review ensures quality and consistency
- Ensure consistency in data collection, photo documentation, and deficiency identification
- Establish and oversee QA/QC processes to ensure all reports are accurate, consistent, and defensible
- Review field data and reports to ensure appropriate assumptions, limitations, and cost opinions are applied
- Manage risk by ensuring clear communication of scope, limitations, and uncertainty
- Oversee project execution across a portfolio of commercial, industrial, and multi-residential properties
- Ensure deliverables meet timelines, budgets, and client expectations
- Support complex or high-risk assessments directly
- Support expansion into reserve fund studies / depreciation reports and the condominium / strata market
- Assist with proposals, client relationships, and growth of the BCA service line across Canada and the U.S.
- Identify opportunities to integrate services with ESA, roofing, and building science offerings
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Building Science Engineering
- Eng. designation in good standing with a Canadian provincial regulator
- Multi-provincial licensing is an asset
- 10+ years of experience in building sciences, with significant BCA/PCA and capital planning experience
- Strong understanding of building systems and lifecycle performance
- Deep familiarity with ASTM E2018 and related assessment frameworks
- Proven experience training, mentoring, and overseeing field-based assessment teams
- Strong technical writing skills and ability to produce clear, defensible, client-ready reports
- This position is based in Calgary/Edmonton Alberta
