
Engineering Manager – CANDU Reactor and Boiler Analysis

- Planning and executing work consistent with quality, regulatory and nuclear codes and standard (i.e. CSA N285.0 and ASME Section III) and Candu Quality program requirements.
- Setting day-to-day direction, production targets and priorities to employees reporting to them, to meet budgets and schedule.
- Setting out the area analysis strategy for the integrated RFBR program with due consideration for accuracy for the Pickering B plant while leveraging OPEX from other Candu refurbishments (e.g., Darlington RFR, Bruce MCR, Bruce SGR).
- Approving technical documents and deliverables prepared by staff working in this technical area.
- Removing barriers that would impact deliverables to meet project requirements and priorities, working with the assigned staff to find solutions and optimizations.
- Providing technical advice to staff and as appropriate subject matter expertise to staff and management.
- Participating in the preparation of estimates (scope, cost, schedule) for Definition and Execution project phases.
- Prepare, maintain, and execute Training Plans for the assigned staff.
- Manage staff qualifications / certifications required for job duties.
- Forecasting resource demands, supporting recruitment and developing staff for the assigned work scope and trend alerts, including skills, capabilities, and durations.

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in a nuclear project environment, including experience leading engineering teams.
- Experience managing and/or performing work under nuclear Codes and Standards such as CSA N285.0 standard and ASME Section III code and any other applicable standards or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems.
- Experience in managing staff performing stress analysis.
- Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada, or Candu Reactors.
- Experience managing and/or performing multidisciplinary work with significant interfacing requirements with interfacing disciplines such as licensing, safety analysis, mechanical, process control, and civil engineering.
- Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical design (e.g., ANSYS, Mathcad, LS-DYNA, or similar).
- Knowledgeable of CANDU Reactor and Boiler design, analysis and design registration.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
- Proven record of following budget and schedule. Must be willing to travel occasionally to participate in walkdowns, meetings and workshops.
- Proven leadership skills, as technical guidance to assist and supervise engineers with good communication skills.
- Eligible for nuclear energy worker (NEW).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to travel to and potentially work at OPG Project sites to meet project needs (Note: the home location is at the 1340 Pickering Parkway in Ontario).
