Position SummaryThe Deck Utility is to carry out all tasks as directed by the deck officers of the vessel. All duties relating to the maintenance of the deck, line-handling, slip-assist lines, cargo transfers and Watchkeeping duties.Main Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the safe docking of the vessel, which includes line-handling.
  • Performing navigational watches
  • General maintenance (painting/chipping and cleaning) as directed by Chief Officer.
  • Must exhibit the ability to work alone without supervision yet maintain compliance with all safety policies.
  • Must possess good communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • The Deck Utility must hold the following minimum qualifications
  • Bridge Watch Rating (BWR, STCW 95 II/4).
  • MED with respect to STCW basic safety; MED training with respect to proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats.
  • Marine Basic First Aid.
  • Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties
  • Oil Tanker Familiarization
  • A valid Passport and Marine Medical
  • Eligible to enter the US

  • Oil Spill Response.
  • Accident/Hazard Investigation training.
  • Hazard Prevention
  • Burning/Welding
