Senior Legal Counsel; General Counsel's Office (Technology)

- Support EY as a key legal advisor on the review and negotiation of strategic transactions of varying sizes and complexity, including contracts with our clients, alliance partners, software and product vendors, subcontractors and others.
- Provide strategic advice working closely with our business teams and internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to assess, review and negotiate contracts with a technology focus, including master services agreements and related statements of work, software and product licensing agreements, managed services agreements and alliance and resale agreements.
- Provide support to EY and our business team in deploying, licensing and leveraging generative AI and other emerging technologies.
- You will advise our business on key contractual terms with a view to assessing and identifying legal and business risks.
- Analyze complex issues, problem solve and provide practical, business-oriented solutions.
- Provide legal expertise on special projects and legal matters.
- Manage external counsel.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative business relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Client-focused and solution-oriented with the ability to quickly grasp legal and business issues and provide timely, accurate and tailored strategic legal advice and counsel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to strategically advise the business on risks and utilize sound judgment on when to make independent decisions or escalate issues as required.
- Experience with public sector technology contracting/RFPs, managed services contracts and AI is a asset.

- J.D. or LLB from a recognized law school and member in good standing of a law society in any Canadian Province.
- A minimum of 5 - 7 years of post-call commercial and technology contracting experience gained at a leading law firm and/or in-house at a sophisticated organization.
- Strong analytical skills and common-sense approach utilized to provide practical, strategic advice.
- Strong negotiation skills that advance business objectives while fostering and maintaining positive relationships internally and externally.
- Superior writing, drafting and communication skills.
- Ability to commute to one of our Canadian offices.
